Defining Characteristics
Hair: The Great Debate
For better or for worse, a huge debate has arisen around Myka's hair: curly vs. straight. In seasons 1-2, Myka's hair is curly. In season 3, she's suddenly sporting straight locks and continues to be "straight" until 4.02, where she returns to the curly style (though, season 4's curly is more of a "crazy lady who stole a baby from the hospital" curly, than the original curly look her hair possessed).

The change in hairstyles has been seen by some as a physical manifestation of Myka's sexuality/relationship with H.G. Even Jaime Murray herself commented on Myka's hair, seeing it as an attempt to be more like H.G.:
Joanne Kelly confirmed as much, stating Myka went back to curly hair in season 4 in an effort to avoid Lesbian Twinsies Syndrome.
Even the show acknowledged the raging debate in a very meta way. In episode 4.09, Myka's sister Tracy grabs her by the hair and yells, "You and your hair. 'I like it curly. I like it straight.' Make a decision!" Later, a non-possessed Tracy Bering tells Myka, "Your hair looks really cute like that." Myka immediately reacts, "Do you think so, cause I really like it curly, but maybe I should go back to the...you know what Tracy?" and in a good directive to everyone, Myka concludes, "It doesn't matter." Agreed.

Eyewear
One thing that is not up for debate: Myka/Joanne Kelly looks damn fine in a pair of specs. Like absurdly fine. Fortunately, we have had the opportunity to see her in a wide variety of eyewear over the seasons. Season 3, in particular, was straight up glasses porn as far as Myka/Joanne Kelly was concerned. Below is a list of all the appearances of one of my favorite Warehouse 13 ships: Myka Bering and Glasses. A gallery of this ship is located here. Warning: it's amazing.

Ass Kicking
One of the best things about Myka Bering is that she's the most physically dominant badass on the show, more than Pete, H.G., whomever. Even Eddie McClintock pointed out that his character Pete is always getting beat up, to which showrunner Jack Kenny stated that he liked that Pete and Myka played opposite the stereotypes for their genders.1 Myka's an awesome shot; she takes beotches down with her signature move, the clothesline; and the show fortunately never points out that "Oh my God, there's a woman who can be strong and kick ass. " Nah, man. That's just Myka.

1. Though Jack Kenny said this in a way that is not my favorite, to say the least - stating that he likes that Pete is the girl and Myka is the guy. Groan. Cast commentary for 2.01:Time Will Tell from the Season 2 DVD.
