"I was born wearing ink" - in a May 20, 2013 tweet at 6:07 P.M.
For Lena Headey, her tattoos are as much a part of her as her hands and her feet. She finds the process of being tattooed intensely relaxing and the images and words inscribed on her skin express those facets of herself that she deems foundational and invigorative. As an actress, she resists the profession's desire for blank slates, skin included, and willingly accepts the fact that in most of her roles, she's adding hours onto her day to come in and get her tattoos covered or hidden before she can go onscreen. For her, though, it's worth it. Below is a list of the tattoos she has currently (that I am aware of).
1) Tattoo of the name "Jason" in Thai, which has been tattooed over since then on her right arm. "Jason" was for Jason Flemyng, the ex-boyfriend of Headey who she was with for nine years. (Source) (Picture)
2) A star on each forearm "for protection" (Source) (Picture below)
3) Tibetan lotus flower on the center of her upper back (Source) (Picture below)
4) Swallows and peonies and movement throughout her back (Source) (Source 2) (Picture below)
5) Unknown on her left foot - appears to be a flower, dragonfly, or another member of fauna or flora (Pictures below)
6) Butterfly and flowers on her right arm, which covers the "Jason" tattoo referenced above (Picture below)
7) The last name of her ex-husband and father of her son, "Loughran," on her left wrist. As it is the last name of her son, too, Headey does not appear to be planning on removing it. (Picture below)
8) Name of her son, "Wylie," inscribed on her left (I think) forearm, below "Loughran." (Picture below)
9) Tattoo of a bird on her left forearm that she got on November 5, 2012 (Source) (Picture below)
10) Words "Can't we just return to the bare bones / Can't we just come back" from Pema Chödrön's book When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times added sometime around June 2013 (Picture below)
11) Three birds flying out of a birdcage that was present in an April 3, 2014 Hunger TV video interview (Source) (Picture below)
