Bering and Wells Episode 4.15: Instinct (Cont'd)

Continued from Page 6 of Bering and Wells Episode 4.15: Instinct

When Myka and H.G. pull back from the hug, Myka puts on her show of being 100% fine, saying, "So, I guess I will see you around." God, you are adorable when you are devastated. H.G. says, "Until then," while opening the car door for Myka (aww). Myka does a weird bow to H.G. in her nervous state, replying, "Right." After H.G. helps Myka into her seat and closes the door, H.G. leans in to the car window, saying, "Maybe just coffee next time?" Not giving H.G. one moment of the "normal life" bullshit, Myka replies with a smirk, "Or save the world. See what happens." That's my girl.

H.G. is now pregnant
The song climaxes and Myka sticks her head out, eyefucking the shit out of H.G. (I'm sorry, but that's the only accurate way to describe it.) They both say goodbye to each other and Pete, poor Pete, who has been sitting in the car the whole time during this insanity, finally pulls the car out of the driveway. As the car starts to pull away, H.G. has to remind herself to smile.

In a move which will haunt me until the end of my days, Myka sticks her little head out of the car window and for a moment, her smile breaks while looking at H.G. She pulls it back into a grin soon after and then proceeds to look back longingly at H.G. until the car goes out of sight. She even sticks her hand against the window, waving a last goodbye to H.G.

H.G. struggles to maintain the front she has been keeping, and as soon as the car fades out of view, we see a very different face on H.G.

That's not happy and it's also not an ending. Not by a long shot.

Wow, I was not expecting any of this at all. But it's very soon after the episode and I'm sure more sleep and nine million replays will shed a different light and different opinion on it as well. I have not read any other reactions really, so I would love to see what insight others have to add.

To quote/misquote Mark Twain, I do believe rumors of Bering and Wells' demise have been greatly exaggerated (from what I saw on Twitter during the show). I don't think this episode does anything but leave things unresolved. It all depends on Season 5. Either the show gets Jaime Murray back and this episode will become the angstiest of angsty in the ship's history (with hopefully a happy ending), or the show does not, and the ship will meet a very dreadful unresolved conclusion, which happens on shows that are cancelled. Luckily, Season 4 is not the final season, and we have a shot at something. Even Jaime Murray tweeted another tweet of hope, reminding the Bering and Wells fandom that there's always Season 5. What that means - who's to say. But I'll keep the faith.

Also, if anything, this episode shows how unbelievably amazing Joanne Kelly and Jaime Murray are, as actresses, and just as supporters of the ship. They really have done the most with the material that was before them, and we're lucky mofos to have them as captains. For Jaime Murray to volunteer to man the Syfy Twitter during an episode she knew was going to be met with some unpleasant responses, to say the least, is just super amazing, and a million thanks to her for assuaging some of the anguish that the episode caused. (All of Jaime Murray's tweets from the Syfy Twitter handle for Warehouse 13 are posted here.)

A fuller analysis of the future prospects for Bering and Wells is posted here. Jo bless us all, every one.

This is new
Feels unused
I've never met anyone like you

Frightening
Feeling naked
Sense in searching something sacred

I'll forget you not
I'll forget you not
I'll forget you not
I'll wait for you...maybe

Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

Go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

I'm exhausted with loving
No fight in me-I'm defeated
I know I'm fooled, I can't help it
You make my heart so helpless

I'll forget you not
I'll forget you not
I'll wait for you...for you...maybe
I'll forget you not...I'll forget you not
I'll wait for you maybe

Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

Go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

Go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
