Fandom is in the Details is a website that encourages delving into the minutiae of a fandom. Specifically, this website is meant to provide information about those fandoms that involve lesbian and bisexual women, real or fictional, subtext or "main text." I always find myself curious when beginning a new television show that involves some sort of lesbian or bisexual storyline. I hope that the show has given effort to provide accurate and respectful representation of its gay ladies, or that an actress supports her storyline. If they do, I find I enjoy the show even more and usually that show and anyone involved in it receive that not-entirely-explained phenomenon that runs rampant in the gay lady community: undying lesbian loyalty.
I wanted to create a website that pooled information about the televisions shows, movies, books, and people that involve or support lesbian and bisexual characters, as I found I usually had to conduct my own broad search on the internet when I was just being introduced to a new fandom. Hopefully, this will be a way to facilitate enjoyment of a specific interest, just in a more efficient way. At the very least, it may provide a good source for lesbian trivia night.
Fandom is in the Details will almost always be a work in progress, and currently, it is just in its beginning stages. It involves only those shows, books, characters, etc. that I am familiar with, but that may not always be the case. This website also does not pretend to be, nor aspire to be purely objective. It naturally includes the opinions of its author, who by no means speaks for the lesbian or bisexual female community or for anyone else in general. If you disagree, let me know. I would love to hear people's opinions and fully expect and understand that my opinion may stand alone on many issues. I welcome feedback of any sort and invite requests for a specific fandom to be covered.
FYI - I do have a full-time job that keeps me quite busy, so the speed of producing material will not be commensurate with a person who can devote the majority of their hours to a website. Believe me, I work as fast as I can, while also trying to maintain some standard quality and some semblance of a life.
All pictures, gifs, content, etc. on the website were created by me, unless stated otherwise. Feel free to use them as you please, but please, at least, cite the source. Many thanks!
