By the phones, Piper is trying to get a hold of her mother again, and when she does actually pick up this time, Piper reveals that her furlough came through. Before her mother can respond, she happily runs through all the details that need coordinated: "So, I need Daddy's license plate number or Cal's. Who's coming? And, uh, a change of clothes. A change of clothes - um, tell Larry the blue sweater. I think it's at Polly's." Taking advantage of the break in the conversation, her mother calmly says, "Grandmother's gone. She passed last night." Letting the news sink in, Piper's excitement over her furlough evaporates and her face begins to crumble. Her voice now almost a whisper, Piper says to no one in particular, "But I'm getting out..." Her grief lodges in her throat and she says even more softly, "I missed it. I missed it." As Piper begins to sob, consumed in her sorrow, the camera pans out, and LCF continues its business as usual. Wow, so another episode ending in sadness. I'm beginning to think prison might not be any fun. RIP Celeste Chapman. p.s. *whispers excitedly* only one more episode and afterwards, the return of Ms. Alex Vause! |
