Piper also is in the cafeteria post-NPR and she is getting hardcore stink-eye from just about everybody. She goes to sit down by Alex, who offers a supportive hand on her back, while across the table, Nichols and Morello give her equivocal looks, likely not wanting to openly be buddy-buddy with her. Suddenly, all heads in the cafeteria turn to see a rough-looking Pennsatucky stumble back from SHU into the arms of her friends. Piper looks on with a smile on her face, but that happiness lasts about one
nanosecond as charging behind Pennsatucky is one pissed off Claudette. In the words of Nichols: "Oh, fuck."
She storms right towards Piper, who stands up to confront her, arms nervously shielding her from a potential attack. Piper tells her, "I am so, so, so sorry. I had no idea that he was gonna say those things." "Is that what you think of me?" asks Claudette, her eyes brimming with pain-filled tears. Shockingly, instead of saying, "No, of course not," Piper just looks down guiltily, without a word of denial passing her lips. Are you fucking kidding me, Piper Chapman?! I thought Larry was terrible, but you're not even denying the truth of his words! Devastated by Piper's tacit admission to viewing her as dangerous, Claudette leaves the cafeteria shaken, and Piper just watches her go, staring blankly as she exits. Now, I kinda hope Claudette does shiv her tonight. I mean, not fatally, just a little bit in her butt cheek or some other non-vital location. You know...no biggie. Following this scene in the cafeteria, Piper goes to the phones, where she rings up Larry. He answers calmly, "So, what'd ya think?" |
You piece of shit! The audacity to answer the phone like that...With no emotion in her voice, Piper asks, "How did you know?" Larry feigns ignorance as to what she's talking about, but soon gives up the act, demanding, "I want to hear you say it. Tell me you had sex with her." Piper begs, "Please don't do this," but Larry persists: "Are you still having sex with her?" Realizing he's going to keep going until she answers, Piper replies in the affirmative. Oh my, get ready. Also, if I may, does anyone else think that Larry looks like a walking blue penis in this scene? Maybe it's just me.
Larry confirms that Healy was the one who told him about the "lesbian activity" that got her sent to the SHU. Piper asks, "So, was this your revenge? Trying to get me killed?" Upset by her question, Larry counters, "Wait, wait, so, so, you're the victim in all of this?" Piper explains, "They're just people, Larry. They're just women who are trying to do their best, and you made them sound

like they were..." "Criminals?" finishes Larry. Ugh, you're the worst. Disgusted, Piper exclaims, "Jesus! Who are you?!"
Becoming more and more irate at each other by the second, the two continue to loudly argue and exchange accusations. Her voice breaking, Piper asks, "Do you have any idea what it has been like in here for me? Do you have any idea how lonely I've been?" Larry shakes his head at her questions, frustrated with her obliviousness to his own issues. Taking a momentary pause in their argument, Larry asks Piper with trepidation, "Do you love her?" Piper stutters, "No, that's...it's...it's...it's difficult." "Do you love her?" asks Larry, even more desperate to get an answer. Her lip trembling, Piper ekes out, "Yes." Larry's face contorts in anguish at this admission and he begins to sob, while Piper chokes backs tears of her own. Composing himself, Larry's face hardens and he reveals, "She named you, you know? She's the whole fucking reason you're in there. How does it feel to be in love with |
the woman who ruined our lives?" On the verge of hyperventilating, Piper: "You lied to me?" Exhausted with anger and hurt, Larry spits back bitterly, "Guess that makes us perfect for each other."
Larry tells her that he needs time away from her, but Piper pleads, "You have to let me fix this." Larry, in a pained voice, responds: "I don't know if you can." He ends the phone call and Piper is left with only a dial tone. Shit, meet fan.
